to thank our teachers, staff, and
administration this month, during Faculty
and Staff Appreciation Week, May 1 –
May 5. Students are encouraged to get
creative in recognition of their teachers.
We honor the many hard-working
professionals at HHE who shape and
encourage our children, with persistent
dedication, patience, and understanding
in our school.
The annual Volunteer Appreciation
Breakfast is on May 17, at 9am at
Heron Heights Elementary. If you are
interested in serving in the PTO or
leading a PTO Committee in the 2017-
2018 school year, contact the PTO
President via HeronHeightsPTO.com.
The next SAC/SAF meeting is May 22, at
2:30pm in the Art Room.
Heron Heights will host McTeacher’s
Night on May 24, from 5 to 8pm. The
class with the most participation will win
a free happy meal. Remember, there is
no school on May 29, in observance of
Memorial Day. The Spring Chorus Show
will be May 31, at 7pm. The last day of
school for students is June 8, with an
early release at noon.
Finally, this spring, Heron Heights
Elementary honored its very own
hometown hero, Deputy Frank Wear,
the School Resource Deputy. Deputy
Wear is embarking on his retirement
and the staff, students, and their families
celebrated his service to the school with
an official “Deputy Wear Day.” We salute
Deputy Wear and the positive impact
he’s made at our school, and extend our
thanks and appreciation to him and best
wishes for his retirement.
As we wrap up another school year
and begin to plan for summer break,

RIVERGLADES
ELEMENTARY

It’s May already and our Riverglades
Elementary 2016-2017 school year is
almost complete. It’s been an awesome
year and what
can we say, time
flies when you are
learning. But don’t
put your calendars
away yet, there
are lots of events
planned for the end
of the year.
During the week
of May 8, PTA
will show our
Riverglades staff
how much they are
appreciated and
enjoy a Staff Appreciation Luncheon for
all their hard work on May 9.
Cultural Arts Night is May 10, we are
excited to show off one of our largest
evening events showcasing artwork from
each Riverglades student. This night is
really a work of art and offers hands-on
interactive art kiosks for the children to
explore their creative side.
The Scholastic Book Fair once again
visits Riverglades May 8 – 12. It’s a great
week to get those books for spring and
summer.
Celebrations continue on May 15 at our
annual Volunteer Breakfast and on May
19 luncheon for our Safety Patrol and
Morning Announcement crew.
PARK TRAILS
ELEMENTARY

Our 2016-2017 school year is almost
complete, and what a fantastic year it
has been. We hope everyone enjoyed
the Park Trails PTA Playground
Celebration. A very special thank you
to our families who helped support the
Park Trails Relay for Life to benefit the
American Cancer Society. The event
was a huge success once again.
Although we are nearing the end of the
school year, there are still opportunities
to participate in more fun and exciting
events at Park Trails. We start off the
month with Teacher Appreciation
Week from May 1 – 5. Don’t forget
to recognize your student’s teachers
for all their hard work and dedication
throughout the school year. Our annual
Cultural Arts Night will take place on
May 10. We will be celebrating the arts
with lots of fun and entertainment for
students and parents. The night will be
filled with musical performances, art
project, and food so be sure to bring
the family to celebrate and learn with us.
The students and teachers are looking
forward to a great day outdoors
participating in some fun and friendly
competition with this year’s Field Day on
May 22 – 24, depending on grade level.
Finally, our students are very excited
about the Scholastic Spring Book Fair
which will be May 30 – June 2.
There will be no school on May 29.
The last day of the school year will
be an early release day on June 8.

As we say hello to summer, we’d like
to thank the entire PTE family for their
continued support. Park Trails wishes
our fifth graders well as they enter
