PARKLAND MAYOR
CHRISTINE
HUNSCHOFSKY
It is hard to believe that another school
year is already ending. In some ways the
time flew by and in other ways it could
not come fast enough. May was the
month of college graduations and proms.
It is always so nice to see so many happy
faces with families and friends celebrating these special moments,
but we also remember those who should have been there but
were not. Now, as we head into June, we have our high school
graduations and 5th grade celebrations. These are bittersweet times
as we see our children grow and mature; these moments pass so
quickly and should be treasured.
Thank you to all the teachers, administrators, staff, and volunteers
for everything you do throughout the school year for our students.
For all of the students, we are proud of you and wish you the best
of luck whether you are moving on to college or moving on to your
next grade. For those that were taken, we continue to think of you
and your families while working to make sure a tragedy like 2/14
never happens again. We will be thinking of the six seniors at MSD
who will not be graduating with their class this year – Carmen,
Ethan, Joaquin, Kaitlyn, Meadow, and Nick, and also members of
the MSD staff who would have been participating in the end of year
celebrations – Scott Beigel, Aaron Feis, and Chris Hixon.
In City updates, FPL will continue to work on the street lights along
Nob Hill Road and University Drive over the summer. These projects
are expected to be completed this Fall. Additionally, we are adding
two multipurpose fields to Terramar Park. The project includes fields,
bleachers, shade structures, and field lights. Also, work continues
on our Building Department addition at City Hall. More information
about our capital projects can be found at cityofparkland.org/CIP.
Father’s Day is Sunday, June 17. Thank you to all the dads out there
