Celebrate Fayetteville: Exploring the Greater Fayetteville Region

CityView is the voice of Fayetteville. It is
the area’s only lifestyle magazine promoting
positive stories about people and places that
drive our All-America City and recognized
“military sanctuary” due to the presence of
our men and women in uniform at Fort Bragg
and Pope Army Airfield.
Marshall and Sandee Waren, both local
natives, founded Fayetteville’s only glossy
magazine in 2006. They serve as publisher
and managing editor respectively. Ashlee
Cleveland has been with the publication
since its founding as general manager.
The Warens realized that Fayetteville was
the largest city in North Carolina without
a lifestyle magazine. CityView began as a
bi-monthly publication and was a division
of William George Printing until 2009.
Now, CityView Magazine publishes its
namesake and primary magazine as well
as the quarterly CityView Family, an annual
Medical Directory in partnership with Cape
Fear Valley Health Systems and Engage
(formerly Accents), a quarterly publication
featuring highlights from the Fayetteville
Regional Chamber. In early 2014, Fayetteville’s
Finest, a publication highlighting the “who’s
who” in the professional community, will
hit area newsstands.
The CityView staff is special in the fact
that it employs a blend of well-traveled
Fayetteville natives and military spouses
that mesh to bring unique ideas and
perspectives for our content. Past editors
of the publications include Linda Scovill,
Sara VanderClute, Francis Hasty, Allison
Williams and Rebekah Sanderlin. Currently,
Kelly Twedell is features editor and Miriam
Landru serves as associate editor. Art director
Annette Winter brings a wealth of experience
as she blends the photos, editorial and
advertisements in the pages of CityView’s
various publications. A team of seasoned
account executives includes Suzanne Dudley,
Julie Donahue, Ann Shaw and Robin Wiggs.
CityView also has a talented team of contributing
writers and freelance photographers
who keep their fingers and camera lenses on
the pulse of the community.
CityView maintains a constant web
presence. The issues are available online
at www.cityviewnc.com. In the fall of
2013, CityView’s editors began blogging
weekly on the website in addition to the
articles they produce in print. CityView
can also be found on Facebook, Twitter
and Instagram.
Readers and advertisers have responded
tremendously to the magazine, telling
CityView over and over again how much
they enjoy reading about what the
community has to offer. Readership averages
over 69,000 readers in Cumberland County
per issue and local companies have
advertised with the company since the
very beginning.
CityView is looking forward to expanding,
improving and gaining more readers in the
years to come.
