MALDON AND DIsTRICT COMMuNITy VOLuNTARy seRVICe
At the Centre of the Local Community
Maldon and District CVS is a local charity that works to support
a strong community and voluntary sector across Maldon District.
Our services include supporting local people to get and stay both
emotionally and physically well through weigh management,
increased activity, volunteering opportunities and involvement
with local clubs and services.
In partnership with ACE Lifestyle Service we run weight
management drop-in sessions in friendly community settings
where our trained staff and volunteers can help to guide you
through the free 12-week programme and provide support to
keep you motivated.
We offer monthly themed Wellbeing Walks during winter and
weekly walks throughout the summer and our walks are
designed for those who want to walk as much for company as
for exercise.
Harbour Coffee Morning, at the Octagon, St Mary’s Church,
Maldon every Monday, has a warm welcome for all between 10
am and 12 noon with a volunteer team always available to chat.
There are often activities, such as craft, for those who wish to
take part and you can get help to access the local Social
Prescribing Service ‘Connect Well’ to find activities and services
that might be of interest to you.
Our volunteering brokerage service has a database of over a 100
local volunteering opportunities covering a wide range of
interests. Why not get involved and give something back to the
community by offering a local organisation a few hours of your
time?
Don’t know where to start? We can provide one-to-one
guidance and support to identify activities and/or volunteering
roles that are right for you and can assist with completing forms
and talk through any anxieties you might have.
If you are a charity or community group we can assist with
funding help and guidance; charity structure and governance;
affordable DBS checks; regular newsletters and bulletins; a local
meeting room and resources; training opportunities; and more.
.
Please get in touch if you’d like to know more about what we
do or are interested in any of the above. You can come and
chat to us at Tesco, Fullbridge, Maldon on Wednesday 6th
February 2019 between 11 am and 2 pm or email
assisting at meal times. You’ll need enthusiasm and good
listening and communication skills. Hours are weekly on
Mondays from 7th January 2019 between 10 am and 3 pm. This
is a rewarding, satisfying role with ongoing training and
development in a supportive environment.
Harbour Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to act as hosts at a social support project.
Harbour is a weekly coffee morning in Maldon on Mondays
between 10 am and 12 noon. The project offers a safe space for
the community to relax over a cup of coffee; chat to others; and
find out about support services. Volunteers must supply two
references and be prepared to undertake a DBS check. If you
have good communication skills, empathy and a friendly manner
this is rewarding role within a friendly team of volunteers.
Training and support are provided.
MaldonSOUP Volunteers
MaldonSOUP offers occasional host soup evenings where, for a
donation on the door, attendees get a bowl of soup and the
opportunity to hear pitches from local organisations. A vote is
taken and the favourite receives the donations. The volunteer
role can include organising the events, preparing soup, helping
with promotion, hosting the events and counting votes. As part
of a team you’ll help prepare simple soups on site for up to 50
people. You should have an interest in your local community
and good organisational skills.
