Are you practically minded? Do you have a high attention to
detail? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic
Horticulturist Level 1/Estate Grounds Person to join the team
on our estate at RHS Garden Hyde Hall in Essex.
We are a garden of 365 acres that ranges from intensive
horticulture to establishing woodland and with over 300,000
visitors per year, the outer estate plays a lead role in attracting
a wider audience. With the addition of new visitor facilities, the
garden and estate continues to undergo extensive
improvements along with the development of new areas. We
welcome someone with enthusiasm and the desire to learn,
so keen experienced horticulturists with well-rounded practical
estate management skills are invited to apply.
2019 will see Visit Essex’s third Big Weekend, when
hundreds of residents will be able to visit some of the
county’s finest tourist attractions for FREE.
Organised by Visit Essex, the Essex Big Weekend is
designed to encourage residents to rediscover the amazing
things to see and do in their home county - and to then
spread the word about them.
The event will see attractions across the county donating
FREE tickets or experiences for residents to use on 6th and
7th April 2019. Residents can bid for available tickets to as
many attractions as they wish from 21st February 2019 at
www.essexbigweekend.co.uk, and two tickets per household
will be allocated by ballot to the lucky winners (some family
tickets will be available as well).
Dozens of attractions donate free tickets for the fun-filled
weekend, and activities include free entry, tours, highadrenaline
experiences and family days out. Visit Essex
Tourism Marketing and PR Manager Carol Jolly said: “We
were thrilled with the keen response to the Essex Big
Weekend in 2018 from local businesses, and want to make
2019 even bigger and better.
Applicants for the position should have some previous
experience in hard landscaping. Experience in grassland
management on a range of grass types including wild flower
meadows along with woodland management skills. Duties
include mowing, strimming, hedge cutting and the use of 3
point linkage and PTO driven equipment, so strong practical
skills are essential as is a full manual driving licence. The
ability to work well within a team and maintain effective
communication is essential. Experience in dealing with the
public is a must and experience in providing guidance to
students, apprentices and volunteers.
