Starting in 1969 with two used
cars on a small lot in Midland,
Texas, and branching into the
manufactured housing business,
John Bushman, with the help of
his wife Carol, has weathered the
inevitable business cycles of over
three decades and continued to
grow and expand his business
interests in a variety of fields.
John is the founder, CEO,
and Chairman of Investment
Corporation of America (ICA),
which does business as MCM
Eleganté Hotel, ICA Homes, ICA
Energy, CBS–7, UPN–16, ICA Properties, ICA
Realty, MCM Ice, Pace Insurance, Motor City
USA, Getaway Spa, MCM Grande, Airline
Mobile Home Park, and ICA Wholesale.
The manufactured housing business laid
the foundation upon which A-1 and then
ICA companies grew and expanded, leading
off a winning record of successful businesses
that has grown and expanded to include
finance, hospitality, insurance, real estate,
energy and broadcast.
Key individuals in the early days include:
• Ed Lasater, president of ICA, who joined
John in 1975, at the age of twenty-two.
Exhibiting the core values of ICA, Ed is an
example of the loyalty and respect that John
both gives and receives, as evidenced by Ed’s
climb from a salesperson to the president
of ICA.
• John Nichols, who joined ICA in 1982,
and is chief financial officer of all the
ICA companies.
• Mike Irons, who joined ICA Energy in 1984
and has converted this oil and gas company
from a lender against proven reserves into
a development company involved in the
exploration and recapture of energy properties
primarily in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma,
and Wyoming.
• Barry Marks, who first joined ICA in 1985, has
managed a number of the operations listed,
and currently operates three television network
stations in the Odessa-Midland market.
• Roy Allen, who has overseen management of
ICA Properties since 1996 and Music City
Mall since 2001. ICA owns approximately
sixty percent of all primary business office
space in Odessa, Texas, in addition to
shopping centers, developed and
undeveloped land, and miscellaneous other
properties in twenty cities and six states.
• Terry Richards, who has been with ICA since
1995 and has actively managed all office
buildings and strip shopping centers in
Odessa-Midland metroplex on a day-to-day
basis since 2001.
• Donna Simmons, who started with John in the
accounting department in 1995 and took the
reins at Pace Insurance Agency the following
year, selling and issuing policies for
manufactured homeowners. Pace currently
writes over thirteen hundred policies annually.
