● respectfully comply with requests made by staff members;<br />
● respect diversity <strong>and</strong> refrain from demonstrating any form of discrimination; <strong>and</strong><br />
● respect the rights of others<br />
Contribute to a Secure & Safe School at LaZerte means:<br />
● carry a valid M.E. LaZerte ID card at all times;<br />
● present ID card on request by any staff member;<br />
● do not open locked outside doors;<br />
● do not smoke, vape, or gamble on school property (cigarettes or e-cigarettes/vapes);<br />
● do not use or possess alcohol, cannabis, illegal drugs, or weapons;<br />
● do not be under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, illegal drugs, or inhalants; <strong>and</strong><br />
● make sure non-LaZerte students enter the school at the main office doors only <strong>and</strong><br />
report directly to the office (or there will be a possibility of trespassing ticket).<br />
Furthermore, students are expected to:<br />
● resolve conflict or seek assistance to resolve conflict in a peaceful, safe, <strong>and</strong><br />
non-threatening manner that is conducive to learning <strong>and</strong> growth. Strategies for<br />
addressing conflict between students may include counselling, mediation, or forms<br />
of restorative practice;<br />
● use school <strong>and</strong> personal technology appropriately <strong>and</strong> ethically; <strong>and</strong><br />
● ensure that they conduct themselves with academic integrity <strong>and</strong> refrain from/report<br />
all incidents of academic misconduct including, but not limited to, cheating <strong>and</strong><br />
plagiarizing.<br />
When student behaviours interfere with the rights of others to learn or to feel safe <strong>and</strong><br />
respected, school staff will respond by providing learning supports, strategies, <strong>and</strong>/or<br />
consequences. There responses will take into account the student’s age, maturity, <strong>and</strong><br />
individual circumstances. Responses provide support for students who are impacted by the<br />
inappropriate behavior as well as for students who engage in inappropriate behavior.<br />
