successful learning. During class time, students must provide their school identification if
they are on a spare or a hall pass if their teacher is giving them permission to work in the
library. No food or drink other than a water bottle is permitted.
Locked Doors Responsibilities and Expectations :
All outside doors are open until 9:05 am each day. After that time, only the two front doors
will remain open to enter the school. Students should not open any locked doors for
individuals attempting to enter the building.
Lockers Responsibilities and Expectations:
Lockers will be assigned by teachers and the combination (or spare key) is shared with the
office. Lockers are the property of M.E. LaZerte School. Students are responsible for the
cleanliness and care of their lockers and will be held responsible for any defacing or damage
to the inside of the locker occurring during the school year. Students should not bring
valuables or large amounts of money to school. Valuable items should not be left in
backpacks, in classrooms, or in a student’s locker (or the physical education lockers). The
school cannot be responsible for any locker losses or unattended valuables left in an
unsecured state. Students are not permitted to share lockers. Students can either purchase
a quality lock from the school or use their own. School officials may search a student’s
locker at any time and seize any suspicious or illegal materials, and these may be used as
evidence against the student in disciplinary proceedings.
MEL Time Responsibilities and Expectations:
M.E. LaZerte operates on a two-day cycle. This allows some classes to meet every second
day (all year courses) and other classes to meet every day (semestered courses).
MEL Time is a closed campus activity where all students extend their learning, pursue
individual interests, collaborate with peers, or seek tutorial/learning supports. It occurs
between Block 1 and 2 on Mondays Students and sign up through SchoolZone and
sessions will become available at 8:30 am on the Tuesday prior to the session being offered.
MEL Time gives choice about what is learned & when it is learned, and it can be mandated
