Assessment and Exam Responsibilities & Expectations:
Students are expected to be in class when assessments have been scheduled. In the event
of excused absences, it is the responsibility of the student to arrange with the teacher an
alternate time to complete an assessment. Our staff aims to be fair and flexible with missed
assessments. Student learning will be negatively impacted if students demonstrate a pattern
of missing scheduled assessments and if students do not take responsibility for completing
missed assessments. In some cases, students may demonstrate a pattern of missing
summative assessments that could indicate learning concerns or other involved factors.
There will be communication with parents and the student may be referred to counselling
Students should talk to school counsellors, teachers, school administration, friends and/or
parents to get the academic support they need, and should not take part in academic
dishonesty. Students should use MEL Time and tutoring for academic support
opportunities.
