● 10 or more credits in Science;<br />

● 10 or more credits in Career <strong>and</strong> Technology Studies, Fine Arts, International<br />

Languages, or Physical Education 20/30; <strong>and</strong><br />

● 10 or more credits in any 30 level course(s) in addition to English <strong>and</strong> Social Studies.<br />

Assessment <strong>and</strong> Exam <strong>Responsibilities</strong> & <strong>Expectations</strong>:<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s are expected to be in class when assessments have been scheduled. In the event<br />

of excused absences, it is the responsibility of the student to arrange with the teacher an<br />

alternate time to complete an assessment. Our staff aims to be fair <strong>and</strong> flexible with missed<br />

assessments. <strong>Student</strong> learning will be negatively impacted if students demonstrate a pattern<br />

of missing scheduled assessments <strong>and</strong> if students do not take responsibility for completing<br />

missed assessments. In some cases, students may demonstrate a pattern of missing<br />

summative assessments that could indicate learning concerns or other involved factors.<br />

There will be communication with parents <strong>and</strong> the student may be referred to counselling<br />

<strong>and</strong>/or administration for follow up.<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s should talk to school counsellors, teachers, school administration, friends <strong>and</strong>/or<br />

parents to get the academic support they need, <strong>and</strong> should not take part in academic<br />

dishonesty. <strong>Student</strong>s should use MEL Time <strong>and</strong> tutoring for academic support<br />

opportunities.<br />

Diploma Exams <strong>Responsibilities</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Expectations</strong>:<br />

Schedules for exams are placed in a variety of locations including on School Zone, via the<br />

weekly parent email, in the main office, in the Voyageur News, on the website<br />

( www.melazerte.com ), <strong>and</strong> are also posted throughout the school. Personalized exam<br />

schedules for each student are also posted in the ‘<strong>Student</strong> Profile’ section of School Zone.<br />

All students are now required to sign-up for myPass <strong>and</strong> will be able to access a host of<br />

information. Click mypass.alberta.ca to create a profile.<br />

● Diploma Exams:<br />

Alberta Education states the following about diploma exams: <strong>Student</strong>s are expected<br />

to comply with the Diploma Examination Rules. <strong>Student</strong>s who interfere with the<br />
