Graduation - Commencements <strong>Responsibilities</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Expectations</strong>:<br />
To be eligible to participate in our school sponsored M.E. LaZerte Commencement, a<br />
Grade 12 student must:<br />
● have 90% attendance <strong>and</strong> punctuality (no more than 10% unexcused absences or<br />
10% unexcused lates). For commencement purposes the school will only count an<br />
absence or late as “excused” if parents/guardians report the reason to the main<br />
office within one week of the absence or late. Medical documentation may be requested<br />
for chronic absenteeism (even if excused). If parents/guardians see any discrepancies<br />
in attendance, (as communicated in SchoolZone <strong>and</strong> the automated phone system)<br />
they must notify the main office within one week of the date of the absence or late<br />
in order for it to be corrected;<br />
● be a student in good st<strong>and</strong>ing by abiding by all M.E. LaZerte School rules <strong>and</strong><br />
behavior expectations;<br />
● be on track to complete his/her high school diploma by the end of June;<br />
● have no outst<strong>and</strong>ing fees (including grad fees); <strong>and</strong><br />
● register for a myPass account.<br />
Graduates <strong>and</strong> their family members are encouraged to go to our website to locate<br />
important dates <strong>and</strong> relevant information about graduation <strong>and</strong> commencement. There are<br />
a maximum of three (3) guest tickets per graduating student that are available for purchase<br />
for commencement at the Jubilee Auditorium but unlimited tickets for purchase at the<br />
banquet (Shaw Conference Centre).<br />
Hallways <strong>Responsibilities</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Expectations</strong>:<br />
At M.E. LaZerte High School we want students in class, on time with all necessary<br />
materials, <strong>and</strong> ready to learn. In order to encourage better traffic flow, students are not to<br />
gather on the ramp (it’s a no stopping zone) or along the atrium rails. Staff members will<br />
ask students to ‘walk & talk’ to ensure traffic flows well. Moving Music is 3 minutes prior<br />
to the bell <strong>and</strong> reminds students to be moving to class. It is the students’ responsibility to<br />
obtain a hall pass from their teacher if they need to leave a classroom. Any student who is<br />
