Student Expectations and Responsibilities 2019-2020 Handbook

Office Responsibilities and Expectations:
● The Main Office is open from 8 am until 4 pm and Administrative Assistants are
available for all questions or concerns;
● The Switchboard is open 24 hours, 7 days a week to take messages for absences or
lates from parents; and
● The Accounts Office is open 8:15 am until 3:40 pm. Payment of fees and bus pass
purchases can be made by cash, VISA, MasterCard or Interac. Students must
provide their Student ID Cards when fee payments are made as scanners are used
with the receipting software.
Parental Involvement Responsibilities and Expectations:
Schools have the responsibility to provide instructional programs that ensure students meet
graduation requirements. Parental support is a vital component of students’ success in
school. Please encourage your child to:
● Do homework consistently - check with the teacher if you think your child needs
more practice in course work;
● Attend all classes regularly and punctually - 90% is the minimum attendance we need
to assist your child in learning;
● Study for exams - and try different study methods for different courses. A free EPL
Library card allows free access to study websites like Solaro and Brainfuse;
● Understand the material – check with your teacher for clarification or access a free
tutor at our school;
● Manage time efficiently - we recommend 10 minutes of review for every hour of
class time;
● Attend tutorials for extra help - available Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays after
school;
● Take responsibility for learning - don’t give up and don’t blame - we will help you
figure it out; and
● Contact us at any time for assistance - teachers and counsellors and administrators
are all here to help.
