SCHOOL PERFORMANCE SCORES (SPS) What Do These Scores Mean? A school’s School Performance Score is used to determine how well the school is preparing its students in math, English, social studies, and science. The scores range from zero (O) to approximately 150. State officials use this score to give each school a performance label and tell the school’s administration what it must do to improve. For the 2017-2018 school year high school scores are based on 25% State Assessment Performance and Progress, 25% ACT/WorkKeys, 25% Strength of Diploma and 25% Graduation Rate as established by the Louisiana Department of Education (LDE). Considering a School’s Growth Remember, the best way to consider school performance is over multiple years so that you can see if a school is improving. A number of factors can affect school performance and we strongly encourage you to talk to the principals and teachers at your child’s school if you have questions or concerns about school performance.
