MISSION STATEMENT: The Mission of <strong>New</strong> <strong>Orleans</strong> Military/Maritime Academy (NOMMA) is <strong>to</strong> provide an educational<br />

program based on the academic <strong>and</strong> leadership skills students need, not only <strong>to</strong> continue their school careers,<br />

But also as future leaders of our nation. Each student will develop the self-discipline, ethical decision making, <strong>and</strong><br />

esprit de corps that the Marine Corps JROTC program fosters in it’s cadets. As a Type 2 charter high school serving<br />

students in the <strong>New</strong> <strong>Orleans</strong> Metropolitan area. NOMMA is dedicated <strong>to</strong> the education of high school students, no<br />

matter their background or previous school experience. Students at NOMMA study in a focused, college prepara<strong>to</strong>ry<br />

environment guided by a team of teachers <strong>and</strong> retired military instruc<strong>to</strong>rs who bring unparalleled experience <strong>to</strong><br />

the classroom. All NOMMA students are cadets of the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Program. The<br />

men<strong>to</strong>ring support provided by the JROTC instruc<strong>to</strong>rs <strong>and</strong> instruction from the academic faculty ensures that cadets<br />

achieve their personal <strong>and</strong> academic potential. The acquisition of core knowledge <strong>and</strong> the skills of analysis, problemsolving,<br />

communication, <strong>and</strong> global responsibility will ensure the cadets success as future local <strong>and</strong> national leaders.<br />

PROGRAM OFFERINGS<br />

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses: Human Geography, World His<strong>to</strong>ry, United States His<strong>to</strong>ry, Composition <strong>and</strong><br />

Literature, Language <strong>and</strong> Literature, Computer Science <strong>and</strong> Principles.<br />

Dual/Concurrent College Enrollment: Delgado, Southeastern<br />

NOCCA Participation: After school, transportation not provided.<br />

Arts in Education: B<strong>and</strong>, Chorus, Visual Arts, Graphic Arts<br />

Career <strong>and</strong> Technical Education: Digital Media, Cyber Engineering, Maritime, <strong>and</strong> Micro-Enterprise.<br />

Transportation Services: Yellow bus services for Jefferson Parish residents. RTA Bus <strong>to</strong>kens for <strong>Orleans</strong> Parish<br />

Residents.<br />

Uniforms Required: Yes. MCJROTC Uniform provided by the school. Required Civilian Uniform is approximately<br />

$65.<br />

Other <strong>School</strong> Programs/Features: Required participation in the Marine Corps Junior Officer Reserve Training<br />

Corps (JROTC). Louisiana Jump Start Graduation Pathways include: Business Management, Digital Media, Cyber<br />

engineering, <strong>and</strong> Maritime.<br />

Extracurricular/After-<strong>School</strong> Activities: All Clubs <strong>and</strong> activities are based on student interest <strong>and</strong> involvement.<br />

Extracurricular activities include: B<strong>and</strong>, Choir, Art Club, French Club, National Honor Society, Debate Club, National<br />

Honor Society.<br />

Team Sports: Cross Country, Soccer, Basketball, Softball, Baseball, Track <strong>and</strong> Field, Wrestling, JROTC Teams<br />

including PT Team, Marksmanship, Drill, Color Guard.<br />
