AND NOWHERE IS SUCH AN ATTEMPT MORE LIKELY TO BE SUCCESSFUL
THAN IN LAMPANG. THE CITY IS AN EXCELLENT CHOICE FOR A DAY TRIP
FROM CHIANG MAI AND JUST AS WORTHWHILE AS A DESTINATION.

Formerly called Kelangnakorn, Lampang is a northern
city that’s so proud of its Lanna roots that are evidenced
by its magnificent time-worn temples, old-style markets,
protected architectural wonders, incredible food and
the locals’ simple yet charming way of life. Horse-drawn
carriages that look like a blast from the past still ply the
city streets.
A typical one-day tour of Lampang takes in major
attractions in the city where life seems to take on a
leisurely pace. Beyond the city, Wat Chaloem Phrakiat
Phrachomklao Rachanuson (also known as Wat Phrabat
Pu Phadaeng) feels like another sacred temple, but
first and foremost it’s an unseen highlight. The temple
is a long drive from the city. Follow highway 1035 that
leads to Ban Pongkop in Chae Hom district. After 7
kilometres, you’ll arrive at a T-junction. Then, turn left
into rural road 4023 that’s dotted with a few attractions
like a strawberry orchard and a dense forest. Wat
Chaloem Phrakiat - 7.5 kilomtres down the road and
occupying a vast area extending from the foothills to the
hilltop - took 10 years to construct. Now it boasts more
than 10 pagodas and a pavilion that’s perched on the
hilltop that shoots 815 metres in the air. The hilltop is a
favourite viewpoint that offers a panoramic view of Chae
Hom district down below with a small river running
in parallel with the green paddy fields. Atop the hill is a
Buddha footprint that’s been an object of veneration
among the locals for a long time.
Lampang makes for a great day trip from Chiang
Mai and merits any traveller’s attention because of
its collection of accessible, magnificent temples that
invariably bring peace to the mind.

南 邦 之 一 日 闲 游
若 有 一 天 的 空 闲 时 间 , 想 休 息 度 过 慢 生 活 ,
那 必 定 要 来 悠 闲 之 城 “ 南 邦 ” 打 卡 。
南 邦 是 泰 国 北 部 城 市 之 一 , 这 里 充 满 着 悠 久 兰 纳 文 明 , 不 论
是 古 迹 寺 院 、 美 食 、 简 单 生 活 方 式 和 马 车 环 城 服 务 等 。
南 邦 的 一 日 游 , 不 但 在 城 里 享 受 慢 生 活 , 这 里 必 玩 地
点 亦 是 红 崖 佛 足 寺 。 从 南 邦 市 沿 着 南 邦 府 寨 封 县 邦 奔 寇
村 -1035 号 公 路 约 7 公 里 行 驶 , 再 左 转 进 入 4023 号 南 邦 农 村
公 路 , 通 过 旅 游 景 区 如 草 莓 园 和 林 园 之 后 , 再 行 驶 7.5 公 里
至 目 的 地 。
该 寺 院 作 为 神 圣 场 所 和 鲜 为 人 知 的 旅 游 景 点 , 弥 漫 着
超 过 10 座 小 佛 塔 和 拥 有 佛 亭 坐 落 在 海 拔 815 米 之 山 上 。 寺 院
最 高 位 置 的 观 景 点 , 景 致 优 美 , 观 赏 到 下 边 小 溪 与 葱 郁 稻
田 相 交 替 , 除 外 , 在 山 峰 之 上 , 还 珍 藏 着 当 地 村 民 尊 崇 的
佛 足 印 。
在 南 邦 度 过 慢 生 活 , 有 机 会 顺 便 到 如 此 精 美 的 红 崖 佛 足
寺 参 拜 佛 , 定 是 一 次 悠 闲 的 完 美 之 旅 。
