LET’S HAVE
A BARBECUE
IN LIN’AN!

Somewhere at the edges of
Hangzhou, near Lin’An ( 临 安 ),
is a secret, warm, blue lake in
between the mountains and a
pine tree forest. As the warm, sunny
weather is finally here; this is the
perfect spot to hang out with friends
and go fishing, swimming, work on
your tan and have a barbecue, if the
security man is a good mood anyway
– if not you can improve his mood by
offering a can of beer and a few pieces
of barbecued food. The second you
arrive at this ‘paradise lake’ you can
smell and breathe real, fresh oxygen,
something that we all really miss,
living in the city. The surrounding
forest has mushrooms, berries,
butterflies, forest flowers and ferns.
You can find the lake area 300 meters
east of the Lin’An Zhejiang Agriculture
and Forestry University, Hangzhou, on
Dongdu Road ( 临 安 市 浙 江 农 林 大 学 东
300 米 ). If for any reason you cannot find
it, don’t want to prepare and carry too
many things, or simply can’t deal with the
security officer, there is another option
nearby: an authorised barbecue zone at
the huge lake of Lin’An with a stunning
view of the lake itself and the massive
mountains that surround it. The location is
Qingshanhu Scenic Area Cruise Terminal,
Hangzhou, near Shengyuan Lu( 杭 州 市
临 安 市 锦 城 街 道 圣 园 路 青 山 水 库 附 近 ).
There you can rent chairs and a grill, buy
food and cook it yourself. Nearby there
are a few stores where you can get drinks,
as well as many other things you might
need for a great outing. Have fun!
To be prepared for a good nature
outing, you may need a grill, which
you can find at supermarkets such as
Wumart ( 物 美 ) or Metro ( 麦 德 龙 , 1459
Moganshan Road). You can also find
charcoal, fire lighters, mattresses to sit
on, meat, seafood, vegetables, sauces
and beer in these places. You can take
other stuff, depending on what you
enjoy doing, like board games, cards,
ball games, badminton rackets, and a
guitar for playing and singing along.
