Go shopping in the town
Wander through the high street and down the
medieval cobbled side-streets and you will be able
to find a wide selection of stores. Ipswich is home to
High Street retailers and independent boutiques and
businesses. There are two shopping centres filled with
stores to explore; Buttermarket and Sailmakers. Now
shop ‘til you drop!
Visit the Ipswich Museum
Take yourself on a journey through history and
Ipswich’s past at the Ipswich Museum, packed full
of thousands of years of history to discover from the
Iron Age to the Romans and Saxons. It is home to the
famous Wool-I-Am, (the Woolly Mammoth) and Rosie
the Rhino, as well as other interesting things to see
and explore for the first time. This museum is
fascinating and unique — and completely free too!
Discover Ipswich’s art
Once you are finished at the Museum, you could even
pop next door to the Ipswich Art Gallery, which hosts
lots of exhibitions and workshops all year round. The
gallery focuses on modern and contemporary art and
showcases work from many local artists.
Visit Jimmy’s Farm
Pop along to Jimmy’s Farm for a fun packed visit,
situated in the beautiful countryside, just a few miles
from Ipswich (ideal if you have a car). The farm and
wildlife park can be enjoyed by families, children
and well...everyone. Catch a fish with Dolly, explore
Jimmy’s Butterfly House, browse the stores or visit
the flower and vegetable gardens. There is always
something fun going on down at Jimmy’s Farm, lots of
exciting events for you to enjoy, so don’t forget to take
a look what’s on before your visit.
Take a stroll along Ipswich
Waterfront
On a beautiful evening, there is nowhere better than
to spend it strolling along the Waterfront, enjoying the
sights of the boats. There are plenty of bars, clubs and
restaurants to enjoy such as The Waterfront Bar Bistro,
Isaacs and The Salthouse Eaterie. Pick your seat by
the water’s edge, sip a refreshing drink and watch the
world go by.
Extend your visit
Salthouse Harbour Hotel is worth a visit if you are
down by the waterfront — a contemporary boutique
hotel with an award-winning selection of food and
drink, popular wine nights and beautiful views. The
contemporary rooms offer great views and some with
free-standing baths. It’s the perfect place to rest and
wake up refreshed.
