New homes for a new lifestyle.
They call us ‘empty nesters’ – the kids have grown up and left home (at last!) so we’re rattling
around in a house twice as big as we need.
And we have a big garden that was ideal when
the children wanted to bring all their friends
round to play football, but is now just a chore to
maintain.
Then there’s the financial aspect. The house is
apparently worth a small fortune (the neighbours have
just sold theirs for a frankly ridiculous amount) but
we’re not getting any value from money tied up in
bricks and mortar.
I’m still working so we’re not exactly struggling for
cash. But with more money in the bank we could do
some of the things that we can’t quite afford at the
moment – that long-promised world cruise, for a start.
So, we’re looking at ‘down-sizing’. Sell this big house
and buy somewhere smaller; and pocket the difference.
We’re planning ahead, too. We’re in good health and
hope it will stay that way for years to come, but we
know that eventually we’re not going to be as active as
we are now.
That’s why we’ve been looking at developments from

bungalows. Maybe we’ll take one of the larger ones so
that we have somewhere for the children to stay when
they visit – and perhaps grandchildren too, one day –
who knows?

ongoing maintenance. It means that we can benefit
from the independence and security of property
ownership without the concerns of property upkeep –
the garden is a lot smaller so there’s less mowing and
weeding!
The bungalows are located around attractive
walkways and gardens, creating a pleasant residential
environment. The village itself has a number of shops
and two excellent pubs with restaurants.
It’s well located, too, close to the A15 for easy access
to the cities of Peterborough and Lincoln, as well as
nearby Bourne and the historic town of Stamford and if
we don’t want to use the car, the frequent bus service
provides an easy alternative.
Maybe it’s time to fly our empty nest and head for The
Croft at Baston.
