Nothing is more rewarding to me than seeing people with Parkinson’s dancing, painting and boxing (no contact) their way to a better life. Helping those with Parkinson’s lead richer, more fulfilling lives in an important part of our mission. That is why the upcoming benefit concert, featuring Neil Diamond impersonator, Jay White, is so important. The October 5, 2019 benefit concert at The Venue is part of the “Sweet Caroline” tour which White conceived to pay tribute to Diamond, whose legendary career was cut short by Parkinson’s. White will perform Diamond’s classic songs to raise money and awareness for those living with the disease. That money enables Friends of Parkinson’s Inc. to conduct support groups, medical symposiums and a host of art and movement courses at no cost to Parkinsonians. I encourage you to help us help those who are living with the pain, stiffness, tremor, slow movement and slurred speech that often accompanies this incurable neurological disorder. You can make a meaningful difference in the health of our community by purchasing tickets to the event. You can join The Vegas Golden Knights, Palm Mortuary and others in making a positive impact on the lives of some of the 12,000 individuals 14 Our Year End Shows By: Evan Davis / Entertainment Editor Over 250 (retired) hippies joined our entertainment editor and host Evan Davis in The Vegas Voice Woodstock 50th Anniversary Show. What a great, fun show with talent galore!” That was the headline I read somewhere. Since I was one of those retired hippies, I don’t really remember where I read it. (Editor’s Note: It was on our Vegas Voice website). It certainly was an exciting August and September proved to be just as electrifying with Genevieve Dew and Michael Ross Nugent astounding the sold-out crowd at Sun City MacDonald Ranch. But why talk about the past? Let’s see what The Vegas Voice has in store for you the remainder of the year. You probably just missed Chase Brown’s country show at Sun City Summerlin’s Starbright Theatre, but you can look forward to the “Disco Nights” show at the Italian American Club on November 8 th . Autumn Grayce Johnson, Nieve Malandra and Nellie Norris (from Concerts and Legends) will have you dancin’ in the isles to songs like: It’s Raining Men, Celebrate, You Make Me Feel Like Dancing” and much, much more. Ned Mills, our musical director, knows exactly how to keep the show rockin’ to those wonderful, fantastic Disco Songs. And our special guest, Sonny Charles will be performing some of his hit songs from when he was the lead singer with the Checkmates plus the 7 years that he sang with the Steve Miller Band.
