Make sure features
have good scale and
aren’t too small for
the space. Err on
the larger size if
you’re unsure.
2. ADD A NEW FEATURE
See where you can create a new highlight
in the garden to draw your eye and
create a stir. This could be a new urn or
glazed pot in tones that connect to a key
interior colour. Make sure it has good
scale and isn’t too small for the space. Err
on the bigger size if you’re unsure.
3. LIGHT IT UP
Garden and outdoor lighting can have a
huge impact on outdoor living. It’s time
to install that lighting you’ve always talked
about. It could be an uplight at the base
of a tree or sculpture, or a hidden LED
strip light under a built-in seat.
4. GIVE IT SOME LOVE
If the deck hasn’t had any love for a season or
two, it will be looking a bit worse for wear. A
fresh coat or two of a quality oil after a bit of
prepwork will do it wonders. While you’re at
it, any hardwood furniture will respond well
to the same treatment. With a bit of time and
elbow grease, you’ll soon be sitting back and
enjoying a rejuvenated deck that looks almost
as good as the day it went down.
