DESTINATIONSCette sculpture naturelle est facile à repérer. Ellese dresse majestueusement au bord de la RN7,comme pour la surveiller. Les Bara, peuplesdes plateaux du sud de Madagascar, ont vule profil d’une reine couronnée et l’ont alorsnommée « Reine de l’Isalo ». La statue est si majestueuseque les touristes prennent le temps de s’arrêter pour admirercette merveille de la nature. Et bien sûr la photographier!lIsalo est un massif gréseux de81540 ha et d’une altitude situéeentre 820 et 1304 m. Il s’étend deSakaraha à Majunga et affleuredans la partie de Ranohira oùse situe le fameux parc nationalde l’Isalo. Cette chaine est uneformation de grès continentauxdatant du jurassique. En raison del’érosion due au vent et à la pluie,ce massif se laisse naturellementsculpter pour laisser apparaîtredes formes comme la botte, lafenêtre et la Reine de l’Isalo.La Reine de l’Isalo est à l’extérieurdu parc national de l’Isalo, elle estsituée à 12km au sud de Ranohira.Bien souvent, les voyageursimmortalisent leur passage danscet endroit en prenant des photos.Pourtant, l’ascension sur cettestatue, symbole de la région et dela Grande Île, provoque une altération et dégradation de cepatrimoine. L’Office Régional du Tourisme Isalo Ihorombeainsi que ses collaborateurs multiplient les efforts afin depréserver ce patrimoine. Cette année, ces acteurs ont ainsidécidé de planter des aloès qui feront office de haie autourde la statue et de nettoyer les graffitis.La statue est simajestueuse que lestouristes prennentle temps de s’arrêterpour admirer cettemerveille de lanatureThe statue is somajestic that touriststake the time to stopand admire thiswonder of natureThis natural sculpture is easy to spot. And of course to photograph it.Isalo is a sandstone massifof 81540 ha and an altitudebetween 820m and 1304m.It extends from Sakaraha toMajunga and outcrops in thepart of Ranohira where thefamous Isalo National Park islocated. This chain is a formationof continental sandstone datingfrom the Jurassic period. Due toerosion from wind and rain, thismassif is naturally sculpted toreveal shapes such as the boot,the window and the Queen ofIsalo.The Queen of Isalo is outsideIsalo National Park, she is located12km south of Ranohira. Veryoften, travellers immortalisetheir passage in this place bytaking pictures. However, theascent on this statue, symbol ofthe region and the Great Island, causes an alterationand degradation of this heritage. The Isalo IhorombeRegional Tourist Office and its staff are stepping up theirefforts to preserve this heritage.
