They decided to expand their operation with a meat processing plant that is currently under construction and will meet a need in the local market. While hamburger is now more than $5 a pound, the cattle market has stayed relatively flat, meaning farmers are not the ones benefiting from the higher prices. This lack of balance is a source of frustration for many area producers, including the Naeves, a six-generation farm family that raises cattle, grows crops and operates a trucking company based out of Andover. The Naeve family set out to change how they get paid for their product. The family includes Andrew and wife Kristin; Adam and wife Tiffany; grandparents, Allan and Roberta; and parents, Ray and Marcia. The idea for a branded beef processing plant is something they had thought about in the past and even discussed on occasion, but it was not until COVID-19 hit that they decided to get serious and look at what it would take to make it a reality.
