2021 WYOMING NURSING SUMMIT & CONVENTION STRATEGIC PLAN 2021 Mission: To promote the profession of nursing, provide a unified voice for nurses, and advocate for a healthier Wyoming. Vision: Wyoming Nurses Association will collaboratively lead to advance nursing practice through the distribution of resources, influence and advocacy for the promotion of healthcare in Wyoming. POLICY HEALTHY NURSE MEMBERSHIP CULTIVATION PROFESSION OF NURSING Goal: We serve as the voice of nursing on important issues and policies that impact the nursing community. We are at the table with local, state, and federal officials advocating for the profession. Goal: We will continue to lead efforts that foster a safe, ethical environment that supports the health and wellness of nurses in all settings. Goal: Grow, develop and diversify membership. Goal: Advance the nursing profession to be a leader in WY healthcare. #1 Strategy: Legislative Committee to meet on a regular basis during entire year. #2 Strategy: Legislative Committee to develop a process for creating, updating, and reviewing our legislative agenda. Present at annual Nurses Day at the Legislature Conference. #3 Strategy: Lead in legislation and health policy by recommending positions on current legislative issues to the Board while keeping members informed on legislative affairs. #1 Strategy: Promote a work environment that encourages a healthy and safe workplace through educational opportunities. #2 Strategy: Identify and promote strategies to support nurses’ mental health including continue to offer the WNA networks of support program into 2021. Access at mid-year point. #3 Strategy: Promote wellness programs within the community. #1 Strategy: Create a Membership Engagement and Development Committee that is chaired by the Vice President. #2 Strategy: Committee will consist of region leadership and will meet on a quarterly basis to address the following • Membership Retention • Diversify WNA’s demographics • Outreach to newer nurses • Increase Membership Numbers • Member Engagement • Expand Member Benefits #1 Strategy: WNA and regions will continue to promote public health needs through 2021. #2 Strategy: WNA and regions will work with community partners to share opportunities to promote nursing with WNA membership. #3 Strategy: WNA to include ANA staff in an event in 2021 or 2022 to focus on nurses as healthcare leaders. #4 Strategy: Promote the influence of the professional nurse. 23
