PLAN <strong>2021</strong><br />
Mission: To promote the profession of nursing, provide a<br />
unified voice for nurses, and advocate for a healthier <strong>Wyoming</strong>.<br />
Vision: <strong>Wyoming</strong> Nurses Association will collaboratively lead to advance nursing practice through<br />
the distribution of resources, influence and advocacy for the promotion of healthcare in <strong>Wyoming</strong>.<br />
POLICY HEALTHY NURSE MEMBERSHIP CULTIVATION PROFESSION OF NURSING<br />
Goal:<br />
We serve as the voice of<br />
nursing on important issues<br />
and policies that impact<br />
the nursing community.<br />
We are at the table with<br />
local, state, and federal<br />
officials advocating for the<br />
profession.<br />
Goal:<br />
We will continue to lead efforts<br />
that foster a safe, ethical<br />
environment that supports the<br />
health and wellness of nurses in<br />
all settings.<br />
Goal:<br />
Grow, develop and diversify<br />
membership.<br />
Goal:<br />
Advance the nursing<br />
profession to be a leader<br />
in WY healthcare.<br />
#1 Strategy: Legislative<br />
Committee to meet on a<br />
regular basis during entire<br />
year.<br />
#2 Strategy: Legislative<br />
Committee to develop a<br />
process for creating, updating,<br />
and reviewing our legislative<br />
agenda. Present at annual<br />
Nurses Day at the Legislature<br />
Conference.<br />
#3 Strategy: Lead in<br />
legislation and health policy<br />
by recommending positions<br />
on current legislative issues<br />
to the Board while keeping<br />
members informed on<br />
legislative affairs.<br />
#1 Strategy: Promote a work<br />
environment that encourages<br />
a healthy and safe workplace<br />
through educational<br />
opportunities.<br />
#2 Strategy: Identify and<br />
promote strategies to<br />
support nurses’ mental health<br />
including continue to offer<br />
the WNA networks of support<br />
program into <strong>2021</strong>. Access at<br />
mid-year point.<br />
#3 Strategy: Promote<br />
wellness programs within the<br />
community.<br />
#1 Strategy: Create a<br />
Membership Engagement<br />
and Development Committee<br />
that is chaired by the Vice<br />
President.<br />
#2 Strategy: Committee will<br />
consist of region leadership<br />
and will meet on a quarterly<br />
basis to address the following<br />
• Membership Retention<br />
• Diversify WNA’s<br />
demographics<br />
• Outreach to newer nurses<br />
• Increase Membership<br />
Numbers<br />
• Member Engagement<br />
• Expand Member Benefits<br />
#1 Strategy: WNA and regions<br />
will continue to promote public<br />
health needs through <strong>2021</strong>.<br />
#2 Strategy: WNA and regions<br />
will work with community<br />
partners to share opportunities<br />
to promote nursing with WNA<br />
membership.<br />
#3 Strategy: WNA to include<br />
ANA staff in an event in <strong>2021</strong><br />
or 2022 to focus on nurses as<br />
healthcare leaders.<br />
#4 Strategy: Promote the<br />
influence of the professional<br />
nurse.<br />
