That’s That!
By: Dianne Hahn / Back in the Days
just celebrated another birthday. Never mind
I which one, but I’m over the hill beginning
my slide down to somewhere I don’t want to go! I
see wrinkles, gray hair, and extra pounds.
Revlon conceals the gray hair, and a basic black wardrobe helps hide
those extra pounds, but there isn’t much I can do about the wrinkles,
unless I want to go the way of a facelift.
I considered having one a few years ago, but my hips started
complaining. The doctor told me if I wanted to walk without pain the
hips needed fixing, not the face.
Okay! Two hip replacements, one after another. Now, I thought, what
about that facelift?
I shouldn’t have muttered aloud because my shoulders were
eavesdropping, and they decided they wanted my attention… to heck
with the face. Really?!
Not My “Fountain of Youth”
By: Linda Bateman-Gomez / Timeless Beauty
My daughter’s wedding is around the
corner, and I’m gearing up for pictures
and meeting new family members. She recently
told me about this new “fountain of youth” product she heard about,
and I decided to try it.
It’s a gel moisturizer from Germany for $70 called Biotulin-Supreme
Skin Gel. That’s pricey in my book, but the claims were so amazing, I’d
pay double for anything that really works.
It claims to be a natural alternative to Botox, eliminating wrinkles
and tightening your face in 60 minutes and lasting up to 24 hours.
It has 3.7 out of 5 for reviews. The positives were as strong as the
negatives, so people either loved it or said it was a waste of money.
Unfortunately for me, I may have gotten caught up in the hype of a
product “too good to be true” and perhaps expected too much.
It’s a nice, fragrance-free gel that goes on well. You can apply makeup
over it if you wear foundation.
For my trial, after applying I waited but nothing happened. I
continued to use it for several days, still nothing.
My face wasn’t tighter, my wrinkles weren’t gone. It did seem to work
as a nice moisturizer though. Since I don’t wear foundation, the added
hydration is nice but for the price there are other things on the market
like the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel for only $20.
Two shoulder surgeries later and I must say I didn’t feel up to another
bout with a surgeon.
My face took it rather well, not a word of condemnation. But it did
stare at me every time I walked by a mirror, swinging my hips and
arms.
The aging continued and I thought about the past. I was so anxious
to grow up. I used to say, “I’m nine and a half years old,” and then,
“I’m almost eighteen.” Wow!
Marriage and three babies. I began to wonder if anyone spoke in full
sentences. Then the kids suddenly finished college and left home. I sat
on their beds and cried.
Hubby said, “It’s time. You don’t want me to support them until
they’re ready for Social Security, do you?” I cried harder.
Mother Nature didn’t slow up either. More wrinkles and inches added
to my already ample figure. “Slowdown that paint brush, Mom!” She
didn’t.
Then it hit me. Our lives are like books. Some are short and some are
longer. I’m lucky to still be writing a new chapter. With a bit more luck
I’ll soon be competing with War & Peace!
Ain’t it the truth - when you’re young, you want to be older. When
you’re older, you want to be younger. That’s that!
All that being said, my 37-year-old daughter loves it! She uses it
around her eye area for her crow’s feet and feels it does a great job. Is it
an age thing? Maybe.
Does it work better on skin that doesn’t need as much help? Perhaps.
Either way, I will continue to use it until it is gone. It may not help, but
for $70 as long as it doesn’t hurt, I’m not wasting a drop.
Like most things in life, what might be great for one person, may not
be for another. Our skin, health, and own genetic makeup, along with
our expectations often account for the results.
Don’t let a few failures stop you from trying new things. Make 2022
the year you live life to the fullest and don’t waste a moment!
