Folk Legacy Trio Kicks Off 2022
By: Evan Davis / Entertainment Editor
George Grove, Kingston Trio 41 years.
Rick Dougherty, Limeliters/Kingston
Trio 25 years. Jerry Siggins, lead singer of the
legendary Diamonds.
What do they have in common? FOLK LEGACY TRIO
An American folk and pop music group that has helped relaunch
folk music of the late ‘50s to late ‘60s. They have been selling out across
the country, as well as Las Vegas.
The Vegas Voice is thrilled to bring them back for an encore
performance at Sun City MacDonald Ranch. And we’ve brought them
to the west side of town at the Summerlin Library Performing Arts
Center.
The Saturday January 22 nd performance at MacDonald Ranch is
already SOLD OUT, but there are tickets still available for the show on
Friday January 21 st at the Summerlin Library. See next page.
Now I don’t believe in stealing, but at $25 a ticket, it’s highway
robbery. Please do not miss this opportunity to hear some wonderful
folk music and some originals. Along with the great music comes
stories of what really went on at the festivals and shows back in the day.
And don’t forget about our February variety show on Valentine’s Day
at the Starbright Theatre. The Vegas Voice “Afternoon Affair” is back
with a star-studded lineup.
The 2:30 show (See page 17) will introduce you to fantastic talents
such as Ruby Lewis, an American actress and singer. She is also
known for such television shows as Desperate Housewives, Girl Meets
World, and Rules of Engagement.
Kevan Patriquin has
performed in Broadway
productions, national tours,
and regional theater as well as
television and film. Find yourself
laughing as Tony Arias (see
our Nightlife editor/ buddy
Sam’s article page 24 for more
information) recaps some of
With Llynda More
Broadway’s best-known classic
show stories as ONLY HE CAN.
Also scheduled to perform will be Ronnie Rose, Llynda More,
Shiela Wright & Mark Gendel. All will be accompanied by the
Vegas Voice Band under the direction of Bill Fayne.
Trust me, these two shows are definitely ones I wouldn’t miss.
The Show Did Go On!
We had to cancel our December concert “Believe In The Magic
Of The Holidays.” On the day before the show, the pianist (who
was fully vaccinated no less) tested positive for Covid.
Under the motto, “The Show Must Go On” The Vegas Voice was
very fortunate to have Mark OToole step up and “save the day.” His
one-man show
“Classic Crooner
Christmas” was
fantastic, and the
standing ovations
were richly
deserved.
As one audience
member remarked:
“I will think about
Mark OToole doing
this for a long time.
I know stories about
people in show business doing wonderful things for each other, but this
is beyond the pale as they say.
“Please forward our compliments to Mark - our group of 6 was just
floored that Mark took on this task. What a guy!”
