Tropicana Foundation’s charitable work extends to animals too,
and its latest mission is to help two animal shelters in need

A sense of accomplishment, self-worth, and fulfilment can
be gained when we lend a helping hand. These feelings
lead to a happier and more satisfying life. For Tropicana
Foundation, it has been tirelessly working for over a decade
to improve the lives of the less fortunate or those who
have been marginalised in the community for the greater
good of all. The charity arm of Tropicana has collaborated
with numerous non-profit and governmental organisations
to assist many community members in need. Since its
inception in 2011, Tropicana Foundation has contributed
an astounding amount of over RM23 million to a variety
of philanthropic initiatives. The foundation’s charitable
work extends to both humans and animals. While there
are several animal shelters in the country, the foundation is
currently focusing on two, particularly My Pets Haven and
PAWS (PAWS Animal Welfare Society).
The former was founded by Aileen Lee in 2011 and acts
as a temporary sanctuary for stray animals until they are
adopted. It provides services such as grooming, boarding,
and pet food sales to pay for its rent. All rescue work is
done independently and is funded by Aileen’s savings and
public donations. Located in Setia Alam, Selangor, My Pets
Haven is in need of volunteers as it is seriously lacking in
manpower, especially in the morning when the centre’s
staff are swamped with work. The shelter welcomes everyone
who is eager to learn and enthusiastic about working with
animals. No experience is required, as its staff will lead you
through the day’s tasks.
PAWS is a non-profit animal shelter that has been in existence
since 1987. It receives unwanted dogs and cats, which are
then vaccinated, dewormed, spayed or neutered, and made
available for adoption. The shelter and all operating expenses
are supported by public donations and proceeds from
charitable activities. PAWS is looking to raise an estimated
RM3.5 million to build Malaysia’s first state-of-the-art animal
shelter in Ara Damansara, Selangor. Equipped with solar
power and rainwater harvesting, the multi-storey facility will
provide a sustainable and eco-friendly refuge for its animals.
As part of its fundraising efforts, PAWS invites you to sponsor
one square-foot of land for a minimum donation of RM100.
Every donation of RM100 and above comes with a certificate
that includes GPS coordinates unique to you, so you can visit
your sponsored land via Google Earth!
