SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2022 FEATURE
Not content with just ruling the world’s
runways, some designer labels and
premium furniture brands, are opening
their bedroom doors, so to speak, for you
to sleep in style and dream the deluxe
dream. From Armani to Roviva, you can
rest easy knowing that these brands
have your back when it comes to a good
night’s sleep. The Swiss family business
Roviva, which develops mattresses, “sleep
systems”, and beds, has been committed
to promoting healthy sleep since its
founding in 1748! Noted for their quality,
Roviva’s products are manufactured with
a blend of tradition and creativity, using
the finest materials and most advanced
techniques. Hygienic freshness, gentle
pressure relief, ergonomic support, and
an optimal sleeping environment are all
characteristics of Roviva’s products. Not to
be outdone is Armani Casa’s Morfeo bed,
which is inspired by the notion of a floating
bed and is made possible by the headboard
and footboard’s thin, gently curved design.
The structure is composed of a single piece
that is rounded at the ends, covered with
a patterned technical fabric, and framed in
solid wood.
For the perfect illumination, check out
Bomma, a Czech glassmaking company. Its
Phenomena range is particularly unique.
The lighting fixtures are hand-blown into
custom-made forms that blend clear and
coloured glass in a variety of sizes. The
flawlessly smooth shape of the crystal light
is highlighted by a polished mounting,
emphasising a faultless fusion of materials
and aesthetics. This range is designed in
collaboration with Dechem Studio, which
was established in Prague in 2012 by
Michaela Tomiskova and Jakub Jandourek.
Jakub and Michaela met at the Novy Bor
School of Glass, where they both fell in love
with the world’s first synthesised material.
While Michaela went on to study product
design at the Academy of Arts Prague and
later worked for several acclaimed design
HOUSE
PROUD
From Bomma’s sparkling lights to Fendi
Casa’s statement screen, luxury home items
lend style and sophistication to any space
studios, Jakub remained in the lighting
industry, specialising in glass workmanship,
technology, and manufacture. Since
starting Dechem Studio, they have been
concentrating on product design, with a
special focus on glass.
For a touch of quirk and whimsy, look no
further than Matthew Wiliamson’s home
collection. His Betty sideboard is such
a statement piece as it is upholstered
in a pink Ikat print fabric that features
leopard spots. Handcrafted in England
from lacquered oak wood veneers, it is
accented with brass door frames, handles
and legs. An award-winning British
interior designer, Matthew is famous for
his creative use of pattern and colour. In
addition to his expanding portfolio of
residential and commercial interior design
projects, he also has a series of homeware
collections. Fendi Casa too has statementmaking
pieces such as the Blossom Screen,
which sits upon rotating castors for easy
movement. Conceived by Atelier Oï, the
screen showcases an intricate system of
mirrors and wooden shelves.
Through a transdisciplinary and holistic
approach, Atelier Oï has been committed
to supporting experimentation and cultural
interchange for 30 years. Architects and
designers Aurel Aebi, Armand Louis, and
Patrick Reymond formed the studio in 1991
in La Neuveville, Switzerland, as a result of
their personal and professional ties.
