Two GCSEs at 3 or above, ideally<br />
including English and maths or<br />
equivalent.<br />
What will I learn?<br />
You'll build foundation carpentry<br />
and joinery skills to help you<br />
progress to an apprenticeship, work<br />
or further training. Practical and<br />
hands-on, you’ll learn carpentry<br />
and joinery techniques using hand<br />
and power tools, as well as health<br />
and safety.<br />
On completion of the course,<br />
you can progress to one of our<br />
Level 2 courses, into work or an<br />
apprenticeship.<br />
Site Carpentry<br />
Level 2<br />
Duration<br />
1 year<br />
Entry requirements<br />
You must have a Level 1 in<br />
Carpentry and Joinery and<br />
GCSE English and maths.<br />
What will I learn?<br />
This course develops your craft skills<br />
to work at recognised industrial<br />
standards within this trade area.<br />
You will learn new site carpentry<br />
skills as well as developing those<br />
learnt at Level 1. The college has<br />
close links to local construction<br />
companies, so you’ll also have the<br />
opportunity to take part in valuable<br />
work experience placements in the<br />
commercial world.<br />
Diploma in Site Carpentry<br />
(Construction)<br />
Level 3<br />
Duration<br />
1 year<br />
Entry requirements<br />
Level 2 in Site Carpentry or some<br />
equivalent work experience.<br />
What will I learn?<br />
You will cover three core subject<br />
areas including health, safety and<br />
welfare, technical information,<br />
quantities and communication<br />
and the construction industry and<br />
the built environment. You’ll learn<br />
a range of practical skills such as<br />
first and second fixing operations,<br />
how to set up and operate cutting<br />
and shaping machinery, how to set<br />
up complex structural carcassing<br />
components and how to maintain<br />
non-structural and structural<br />
components.<br />
Don't worry if you<br />
haven't got a<br />
4 in maths and<br />
English, we will help you<br />
achieve these as part<br />
of your course.<br />
