What will I learn?<br />
This course is designed to help you<br />
progress into future courses and<br />
possible careers in either Health<br />
and Social care or within Early Years<br />
and Childcare.<br />
You'll explore different aspects of<br />
working in a caring role, including<br />
an awareness of the various roles<br />
and provisions within the sector,<br />
effective communication and<br />
teamwork, healthy lifestyles and<br />
also how to safeguard vulnerable<br />
people and protecting yourself.<br />
You will gain real world experience<br />
of both healthcare and early years<br />
settings through community events<br />
and simulated activities. This could<br />
be activities arranged through<br />
charities or within in our early years<br />
learning suite.<br />
On successful completion of this<br />
course you may be considered for<br />
progression on to a Level 2 course<br />
within your chosen pathway of<br />
either health and social care or<br />
early years and childcare.<br />

Three GCSEs at 4-9 including<br />
English language and maths.<br />
What will I learn?<br />
If you have career aspirations<br />
of becoming an early years<br />
practitioner and working with<br />
children aged 0-5 then this is the<br />
perfect course for you.<br />
You'll gain excellent knowledge on<br />
a range of subjects linked to your<br />
specialised early years course.<br />
These include: child development,<br />
safeguarding, equality and diversity<br />
and supporting children with<br />
special educational needs.<br />
You'll be taught through classwork,<br />
interactive practical activities and<br />
demonstrations. Your IT skills will<br />
be honed and we will also use a<br />
blended learning model through<br />
our online platforms.<br />
This course will enable you to work<br />
with children of different ages within<br />
a nursery environment and you’ll<br />
undertake a work placement of 250<br />
hours.<br />
If you'd like to continue developing<br />
your knowledge and skills in college<br />
you have the option to progress to<br />
the T Level in Education and Early<br />
Years.<br />

and Young People<br />

Entry requirements<br />
Ideally candidates will have<br />
achieved a grade 3 in English and<br />
maths, plus one other subject area.<br />
What will I learn?<br />
This course is designed to help<br />
you gain key skills and progress<br />
to a higher Level 2 qualification.<br />
You'll gain an introduction to<br />
the sector and the knowledge<br />
and understanding of child<br />
development and well-being<br />
for children aged 0-5 years.<br />
You will have an understanding of<br />
the skills needed when babysitting.<br />
It includes the babysitter’s<br />
responsibilities to the children<br />
they care for, their responsibilities<br />
to the parent(s) and accident<br />
prevention and fire safety.<br />
You may have the opportunity<br />
to work alongside a professional<br />
as part of a work placement. We<br />
have excellent links with a range<br />
of high-quality employers in day<br />
nurseries and primary school.<br />
Before going on work placement,<br />
you'll get a feel for what the world<br />
of work is like by taking part in<br />
simulated activities in our<br />
exclusive early<br />
years learning<br />
suite.<br />
