Celebrating the City of Delray<br />
and the People Who Make It Great<br />

It was a gathering<br />
of like minds and<br />
contiguous hearts.<br />
The Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce<br />
pulled out all the stops and<br />
created one of the most ambitious<br />
and exciting events this year. Called “We<br />
are Delray,” the evening soiree drew over<br />
250 people and honored those in the community<br />
who contribute to its greatness.<br />
If you think that honoring local businesspeople<br />
would be a high-pitched<br />
snore, you’re wrong. The chamber team<br />
came up with unique ideas for contests,<br />
awards, and fun-filled games that were<br />
just a bit removed from the norm.<br />
Take the Chopper Dropper, for instance.<br />
Guests gravitated to the outdoor terrace<br />
of the Seagate Country Club. With great<br />
anticipation, hundreds of people waited<br />
for a helicopter to drop golf balls on the<br />
course. Guests bought the balls for $20<br />
(they sold 400), and they were dropped<br />
on the course with numbers attached. The<br />
winner was the first ball to land in a hole<br />
(Jesse Sowards).<br />
They also sold beaded necklaces that enabled<br />
people to play “Head or Tails.” Guests<br />
were asked to put their hand on their head<br />
or tail, and a coin was tossed to determine<br />
a winner (after quite a few were tossed).<br />
The winner, Janey Ciampi Bass, took home<br />
a gift basket with goodies and a half-page<br />
ad in <strong>Atlantic</strong> <strong>Ave</strong> <strong>Magazine</strong>.<br />
There were photo ops on an 8-foot banner<br />
with logos of event sponsors. The presenting<br />
sponsor was Posh Properties, and<br />
other sponsors included International<br />
Materials, Revive!, PNF Accountants & Advisors,<br />
CDS Holdings, The Plaza at Delray,<br />
Stuart & Shelby, and more.<br />
