State of the City
By Mayor Shelly Petrolia
The Most Wonderful
Time of the Year is Here
Holiday Cheer is in the Air
The holiday season is upon us, so mark your calendar for our
upcoming events. The annual Holiday Boat Parade returns on December
9, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. Grab a lawn chair and head to Veterans
Park (802 NE 1st St) or Knowles Park (1001 S. Federal Highway) to
watch the festive flotilla light up the Intracoastal! You can also catch
Turnstiles, a Billy Joel tribute band, at 7:30 p.m. at our free monthly
concert at the Old School Square Pavilion.
If you’re looking for a fun holiday activity for your kids, join us on
December 16, 2022, at 6 p.m. for Movies in the Park. We’ll be showing
“Arthur Christmas” at the Seacrest Soccer Complex. We’ll bring
the popcorn, and you bring the chairs and blankets. Then, on December
18, 2022, I hope you’ll join us and special guests for the Annual
Grand Delray Beach Chanukah Festival and Menorah Lighting at Old
School Square. Lastly, don’t forget to stroll by our 100-foot Christmas
tree in Old School Square and visit www.delraybeachfl.gov for a list
of Holiday Village activities going on through December 31, 2022.
ePlans is Here!
Last month, we launched our new, digital plan submittal system
called ePlans. Permit applications for air conditioner replacements,
electrical service changes
(residential only), roofing or
re-roofing of existing structures,
water heater replacements,
and window
or door replacements are
now being accepted via
ePlans. If you need to apply
for these permits, you
can now complete your application,
upload documents, track
your application, view comments,
submit payment, download, and print
your permit- all from your computer without ever visiting City Hall.
More permit types will continue to be added as the roll-out of the
ePlans system continues. I want to thank the City’s Development
Services and Information Technology Departments for spearheading
this initiative that provides a more efficient, cost-effective, and
environmentally friendly review process. For more information,
visit www.delraybeachfl.gov/ePlans or call (561) 243-7200.
Your Voice and Vote Matter
COPYRIGHTED
In our March 2023 municipal election, voters will decide if two
General Obligation (GO) Bonds- one to fund new public safety facilities
and one for various city park and recreational facility improvements,
get approved.
If approved, the proposed $100 Million Public Safety GO Bond
will finance renovations to our existing police station, Fire Stations
111, 112, 114, and 115, and the Ocean Rescue Headquarters.
If the $20 Million Parks GO Bond is approved, it will fund projects
at Catherine Strong Park and various other parks across the city.
To learn more about the proposed GO Bonds, visit www.delraybeachfl.gov.
