4.1.2 Air Particulates<br />

Quantifiable concentrations <strong>of</strong> a few residues were found <strong>in</strong><br />

air particulate samples obta<strong>in</strong>ed with <strong>the</strong> particulate high volume<br />

air sampler <strong>in</strong> May, none <strong>in</strong> August <strong>and</strong> 12 <strong>in</strong> June (detection<br />

limits were lower for June samples because <strong>of</strong> use <strong>of</strong> a 60 m GC<br />

column with result<strong>in</strong>g better resolution; see section 3.18). <strong>PCBs</strong> Q<br />

were <strong>the</strong> most abundant compounds <strong>in</strong> May <strong>and</strong> June particulates at<br />

1.5 pg/m3. All o<strong>the</strong>r detectable compounds <strong>in</strong> June samples were<br />

less than 1 pg/m3. Levels <strong>in</strong> May samples were slightly higher but<br />

were below quantitation <strong>and</strong> are not as reliable. A summary <strong>of</strong><br />

detectable compounds <strong>in</strong> June 1987 samples is given below:<br />
