the mission of the National Federation of SCAs in
consolidating the network of SCAs.
In 1999 the Savings and Credit Associations were
credited by the Rural Finance Corporation with a total
loan portfolio of 15,000,000 Lei and by the Moldovan
Agroindbank Commercial Bank with a total loan portfolio
of 4,200,000 Lei. The number of members that were
granted credits by these institutions exceeded 10000,
and the individual loan size varied between 200 and
10000 lei.

National Federation of Savings and Credit Associations
The goal of the project is to consolidate and develop
the network of savings and credit associations in
Moldova with the support of the National Federation of
SCAs. The Federation is to carry out the following activities:
organization of reunions for a systematic flow of
information among the Federation and the associations,
publication of newsletters, creation of 6 regional
accounting centers.
This is a project in progress and is co-financed by
CARITAS Moldova.

Local Technical Assistance for Farm Stores
The ACAI-Inform NGO is Soros Foundation
Moldova and Citizens Network for Foreign Affairs Inc.
partner for the Farm Stores Project which is to offer
business consulting and assistance in co-operative
development for the enterprises that will receive financial
support within the program. SFM contributes with
the institutional support of the association and CNFA
comissions the organization for each store separately,
the contract lasting for one year.

Business and Economic Information Center
B.P. Haødeu Municipal Library
The center is to offer the public literature specialized
in economics and access to international databases.
The center will provide the community with the possibility
to explore economic information resources, contributing
to the strengthening and development of the
economic information network that public and private
sectors need.
