During the neolithic era, three traditional hunter-gatherer

groups in Bolivia, Namibia and Tanzania

were studied by a UCLA research team. In this

sleep study, it was discovered that these people

went to bed about 3.5 hours after sunset, disproving

the theory that modern technology may be to

blame for people staying up later. The subjects

slept an average of 6.25 hours per night, sleeping

more in the winter and less in the summer. (Jill

Zwarensteyn, 2022)
