5.3.3. Sintering Shrinkage<br />

Sintering shrinkage differences between pure BT and Ni(m) composites is highly<br />

composition dependant. A high BT:Ni ratio for Ni(m) favors co-sintering of<br />

heterogeneous BT–Ni(m) composite structures due to compatible sintering temperature<br />

and shrinkage rate. Also, thermal expansion coefficient of the Ni(m) is more closely<br />

matched to pure BT resulting in lower residual stress at interfaces. Less compatible co-<br />

sintering is observed as BT:Ni decreases.<br />
