In order to explore the massal aspect, fifteen years ago we launched a research programme<br />
in a wide variety of regions. Dubbed Unik, the selection groups up to 12 genotypes<br />
that are characteristic of their selection location, and express great diversity<br />
between them. To give you an idea of the scale of the task – we only began marketing<br />
them recently.<br />
You will find details of the programme, which is perfectly suited to present-day requirements<br />
particularly from a health perspective, on pages 59.<br />
In practical terms, what are the guidelines for planting the perfect vineyard?<br />
M. M.: The first rule you should comply with is to plan ahead. This brings us back to preparing<br />
the soils, but also placing an order with the vine nursery which should be done<br />
way in advance so as to avoid any delivery delays, for example. You should also analyse<br />
the soil in the relevant block in order to give it the care it needs. Then, you should<br />
plan the organic fertiliser that should be applied early enough so that it can become<br />
