Description and tradition: The center is <strong>in</strong> Colombo and accepts men and women<br />
<strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>tensive Vipassana meditation accord<strong>in</strong>g to Mahasi Sayadaw.<br />
<strong>Meditation</strong> technique: The development of constant m<strong>in</strong>dfulness (no breaks) is<br />
valued highly <strong>in</strong> this Vipassana method accord<strong>in</strong>g to Mahasi Sayadaw. Dur<strong>in</strong>g formal<br />
meditation alternation is beween one hour sitt<strong>in</strong>g and one hour walk<strong>in</strong>g. Outside<br />
formal meditation m<strong>in</strong>dfulness is directed towards the task of the moment: eat<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
walk<strong>in</strong>g, laundry etc. The primary object of meditation dur<strong>in</strong>g sitt<strong>in</strong>g is usually the<br />
ris<strong>in</strong>g and lower<strong>in</strong>g of the abdomen. Several times per week there is an <strong>in</strong>terview with<br />
the teacher.<br />
Lodg<strong>in</strong>g: Part of a build<strong>in</strong>g with s<strong>in</strong>gle rooms and shared baths. Women live <strong>in</strong> a<br />
separate area.<br />
