THE ELECTRIC REVOLUTION
WATCH OUT THE
DRAGON
China has been riding the electric revolution
since the early years of the new millennium.
This has allowed them to accumulate
a significant competitive advantage that
Western manufacturers are now struggling to
close. It is no coincidence, therefore, that authoritative
newspapers such as the New York
Times have written that, in the transition towards
electric mobility, “the only winner so far
is China”, also arguing that Western countries
may have to wait decades to close the technological
gap between them and the Dragon. All
has set itself and despite the great effort that
the United States guided by President Biden
are making to stimulate electric mobility by
investing over 200 billion dollars.
How did China create a cutting-edge automotive industry in
alternative traction? And will the offensive launched against
Western manufacturers in the automotive sector also be
replicated among commercial vehicles? Maybe it is still early
to say, but data and trends can suggest some answers.
