Shaping the World of
Communication –
for 60 Years

Dear Business Partners
In 1964, it was impossible to foresee how
profoundly our everyday lives would change
as a result of digitalization and thus also the
world of communications and data networks
in the decades that followed. But the young
R&M company founders and technical experts
Hans Reichle and Renato De-Massari
already knew back then: You need reliable
infrastructures to connect people and companies,
and thus improve communication.
They founded their company in the spring
of 1964 under the simplest conditions,
initially to make life easier for installers with
a revolutionary telephone outlet.
Since then, R&M has developed into a
globally active company with an established
reputation in the industry. We are privileged
to have been able to support some clients
since the very beginning. And at their core,
our vision and corporate values have remained
the same. Every day, our employees
do their best to meet the highest standards of
quality, innovation, customer orientation, and
sustainability – with the aim of breaking down
boundaries and reliably connecting people
and companies around the world. In this
issue’s focus article, CEO Michel Riva takes
you on a journey through time that tells the
story of the transformation from the «Reichle
connectors» to the digital era.
All-in-one solutions as a
success factor
In the Gigabit age, connectivity has become
much more complex. Accordingly, R&M has
evolved from a component manufacturer to
a provider of complete system solutions. The
value-added chain is being systematically expanded,
as was recently the case at the cable
plant in Děčín (more on this on pages 16+17).
Such holistic offers are in demand: A clear
reference example can be found on pages
8+9, where you can read how Bern University
Hospital benefits from an integrated data
center infrastructure solution including services
from R&M. In addition, we once again
report on numerous R&M innovations and
trends from the industry.
Infrastructures for data communication
and thus Internet access are now among
the basic needs of society. However, the
connected world is by no means a foregone
conclusion and can only function with secure
and future-proof connectivity solutions. In
order for people and companies to be able to
communicate without restrictions, sophisticated
residential and business wiring, efficient
data centers, stable and resilient outdoor
networks, well-connected mobile communication
antennas, aerial deployment and
much more are needed. We want to connect
people and companies responsibly with our
solutions along our entire value-added chain.
This attitude has been a key component of our
sustainable business activities for 60 years.
We are proud of 60 years of company history
and we would like to thank everyone who has
contributed to this. Our company is ready to
face the future – we look forward to many
new projects that we can carry out for our
