32 Youth Programs Continued ACT/SAT PREPARATION COURSE Students interested in becoming familiar with the ACT or SAT (sessions on each test are offered simultaneously) before taking the actual ACT or SAT would benefit from this course. Taught by members of the Homestead High School faculty, students will take and score a practice test on the first Saturday. On the second Saturday, under the direction of math, science (ACT) and English instructors, students will identify their strengths and weaknesses. General test-taking strategies, reading strategies, and content-specific test strategies will be presented. Prerequisites: HHS Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors. First come, first serve. Babysitter’s Safety Training The primary purpose of the course is to provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. This training is designed for youth ages 11 to 15. Youth Programs Continued 33 Driver’s Education Class The Mequon-Thiensville Recreation Department, in partnership with A-Plus Driving School LLC, is offering driver’s education classes. A-Plus Driving School is licensed by the State of Wisconsin, administers the state instruction permit in class and provides the required 30 hours of classroom education and 12 hours of professional behind the wheel instruction. All class materials including insurance coverage are provided to students. For the last 18 years, A-Plus has been teaching driver’s education to teens in Ozaukee County. We look forward to the opportunity to teach your child responsible driving!
