Resolution No. 52108C which delegates authority to the superintendent/president, or his designee, to sell or otherwise dispose of the electronic equipment listed in Exhibit A of the resolution and to execute all documents in connection therewith in accordance with the terms and conditions of the resolution. (This resolution has been made part of the minutes of this meeting.) The Governing Board accepted as complete, per Contract No. 07P99, the work of, and authorized the district to file a notice of completion with the county recorder for, the SSA-EEC-Science Landscaping Project. The Board approved the $40,000 Plus 50 Initiative three-year grant award from the American Association of Community Colleges to develop programs for members of the plus 50 community. The Governing Board rejected three claims for damages identified as Claim No. 1467453-JS. The Board approved an additional $100,000 budget for the Vocational Education and Training Services Grant for the Chaffey College Economic Development Program to provide training in computer/office skills and retail occupations through June 30, 2008. ACTION AGENDA GOVERNANCE PROCESS On the motion of Mr. George, second of Mr. Gomez, the Board approved for the year June 1, 2008–May 31, 2009, that the ASCC president also be designated the student trustee and that he/she receive a $250 stipend for tuition, fees, books, or supplies per semester. The Board asked administration to review the amount of the stipend. CEO/STAFF REPORTS Superintendent/President Henry Shannon presented a list of the activities he has been involved in since the last board meeting. He informed the Board of a $75 million donation to California Community Colleges for student scholarships. It is the largest gift to any community college system in the nation. Colleges will receive funds based on FTES if they fundraise the matching amount. Ardon Alger, Faculty Senate president, thanked Student Trustee Cervantes and student government for the class gift. He distributed a written report of faculty achievements and presented highlights from the list. The report included both off- and on-campus activities of faculty. Classified Senate President Trisha Albertsen reported on classified staff accomplishments. She announced the recipients of four senate-sponsored scholarships. As its annual fundraiser, the senate sold snacks before the commencement ceremony and has been selling the remaining snacks this week. CCFA President Bret McMurran responded to comments made earlier in study session by Phil Hillman of Vavrinek, Trine, Day & Co. regarding GASB 45. Administration will provide the Board with historical data on the increase in the cost of postemployment benefits.
