PROPOSAL
To approve the $5,500 additional grant award from the American Association of Community Colleges for
mandated travel ($3,300 for year 2007–2008 and $2,200 for 2008–2009).
BACKGROUND
The Plus 50 Initiative grant of $40,000 was approved by the board in May 2008. The AACC will provide
$5,500 of additional funds as follows: (1) annual travel allowance of $1,100 per person for the program
director and program associate to attend the annual Plus 50 Initiative Conference in 2008 and 2009; (2) a
travel allowance of $1,100 for the program director to attend the Mentor College in 2008.
BUDGET IMPLICATIONS
Funding Source – American Association of Community Colleges.
Status of Funds – The 2007\–08 restricted general fund budget will be increased as indicated below:

55xxx Other Services $3,300
Future Implications – The additional $2,200 travel award will be included the 2008–2009 adopted restricted
general fund budget.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended the Governing Board approve the $5,500 amendment to the Plus 50 Initiative Grant.
