TOPIC PLUS 50 INITIATIVE AMENDMENT I Communication No. IV.F.3.p SUPPORTS BOARD ENDS STATEMENT/POLICY AGENDA ITEM Chaffey Community College District GOVERNING BOARD June 26, 2008 Board MeetingDate Ends Statement 8.4.3 – The district will seek and obtain a minimum of $1 million annually in external grants. PROPOSAL To approve the $5,500 additional grant award from the American Association of Community Colleges for mandated travel ($3,300 for year 2007–2008 and $2,200 for 2008–2009). BACKGROUND The Plus 50 Initiative grant of $40,000 was approved by the board in May 2008. The AACC will provide $5,500 of additional funds as follows: (1) annual travel allowance of $1,100 per person for the program director and program associate to attend the annual Plus 50 Initiative Conference in 2008 and 2009; (2) a travel allowance of $1,100 for the program director to attend the Mentor College in 2008. BUDGET IMPLICATIONS Funding Source – American Association of Community Colleges. Status of Funds – The 2007\–08 restricted general fund budget will be increased as indicated below: 48xxx Income $3,300 55xxx Other Services $3,300 Future Implications – The additional $2,200 travel award will be included the 2008–2009 adopted restricted general fund budget. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended the Governing Board approve the $5,500 amendment to the Plus 50 Initiative Grant. AGENDA ITEM Chaffey Community College District GOVERNING BOARD TOPIC RESERVE TRANSFER – SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE FUND Communication No. IV.F.3.q SUPPORTS BOARD ENDS STATEMENT/POLICY June 26, 2008 Board MeetingDate Ends Policy 8.4: Provide appropriate fiscal strategies to address growth, facilities, technology, changing economic conditions, and other external environmental factors. PROPOSAL To approve the transfer of $262,000 from the scheduled maintenance undesignated reserve for the 2007–2008 expenses for the Siemens Central Plant maintenance project. BACKGROUND It has been determined that the Siemens Central Plant maintenance project can appropriately be charged to the scheduled maintenance fund. The Siemens contract is a technical support program that provides Chaffey College with a transition plan for the operation and maintenance of the Central Plant. The plan will encompass all facets of the Central Plant operations and maintenance so Chaffey personnel will be able to manage and understand the day-to-day central plant operations, automation concepts and support, subcontractor work, and energy efficiency procedures and practices. BUDGET IMPLICATIONS Funding Source – Scheduled maintenance fund undesignated reserves. Status of Funds – $262,000 will be transferred from the scheduled maintenance fund undesignated reserves and will be allocated as indicated below: Future Implications – N/A.
