matter in the Geonomy Scientific Committee <strong>of</strong> the Hungarian Academy <strong>of</strong> Scince (with Béla<br />

Lukács). He wrote the first book in Hungary about planetary science From Crystals to Planetary<br />

Bodies (also he was the first candidate <strong>of</strong> earth sciences in topics planetology). He built with<br />

colleagues on the Eötvös University the Hungarian University Surveyor (Hunveyor)<br />

experimental space probe model for teachers for training purposes and development <strong>of</strong> new<br />

constructions in measuring technologies.<br />

HORVÁTH, Izabella<br />

Holds two Bachelor degrees — anthropology, and medieval art history — and a Master degree<br />

— linguistics, from the University <strong>of</strong> Illinois. She has been a presenter at international scholarly<br />

forums since 1989 in the United States, Hungary, Austria, Germany and China. She has<br />

contributed over 40 articles in Hungarian, English Turkish, Chinese, Russian, and Uygur journals,<br />

and lexicon volumes. Ms. Horváth is the author <strong>of</strong> two books: The Journey <strong>of</strong> the Griffins from<br />

Inner Asia to the Carpathian Basin (bilingual, Hungarian‐English, 1992) and The earliest history<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Huns (bilingual, Hungarian‐Chinese, 2000) which was coauthored with her husband,<br />

Yaxiong Du, a Chinese ethnomusicologist. This is her 10 th year in China where she does field<br />

work and gives lectures at various Chinese universities on the results <strong>of</strong> her research. She is the<br />

member <strong>of</strong> the Central <strong>Eurasian</strong> <strong>Studies</strong> Society based in Harvard University. At present Ms.<br />

Horváth is Visiting Pr<strong>of</strong>essor at the Northwest Cultures Study Center, Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Ethnomusicology, Xian Conservatory <strong>of</strong> Music, Xian, PRC.<br />

MARÁCZ, László<br />

Born in 1960 in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Received his degree from the University <strong>of</strong><br />

Groningen. Between 1984 and 1990 he was with the University <strong>of</strong> Groningen as assistant<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essor. Between 1990 and 1992 as a Niels Stensen scholar he was with MTI, MTA and CNRS as<br />

a guest researcher. Since 1992 Mr. Marácz is lecturer <strong>of</strong> the East‐European Institute <strong>of</strong> the<br />

University <strong>of</strong> Amsterdam. His areas <strong>of</strong> research cover general syntax, Hungarian grammar, the<br />

relationship <strong>of</strong> Hungarians and the West. Author <strong>of</strong> numerous scientific publications and books.<br />

MÁTÉ, Zsuzsanna<br />

Works as habilitation pr<strong>of</strong>essor at the University <strong>of</strong> Szeged (Juhász Gyula Teacher Training<br />

Faculty), she teaches Hungarian literature and aesthetics. Ms. Máté is full member <strong>of</strong> the doctoral<br />

PhD‐system in philosophy <strong>of</strong> Málnási Bartók György at the University <strong>of</strong> Szeged. She received a<br />

PhD‐degree in Philosophy: ʺThe Absolute in the philosophy <strong>of</strong> art in the first half <strong>of</strong> our centuryʺ,<br />

at the Hungarian Academy <strong>of</strong> Sciences (1996); Habilitation: ʺSándor Sík – the author, the literary<br />

scientist and the aestheticianʺ at the University <strong>of</strong> Debrecen (2006). Her main field <strong>of</strong> research are:<br />

Hungarian history <strong>of</strong> aesthetics and other comparative questions <strong>of</strong> aesthetics. Author <strong>of</strong> several<br />

books.<br />
