combination of I-485 road surface, golf course and medium density residential combines<br />

to cause the high pollutant loads. There appears to be minimal opportunity for land<br />

acquisition in Focus Area 1, however NC DOT has indicated their desire to partner with<br />

MCSWS within road ROW. There is very limited retrofit opportunity within the<br />

Shannamara neighborhood.<br />

Focus Basin 5 (Lawyers Road and I-485)<br />

Figure 26 shows the extent of Focus Basin 5. It is comprised of I-485 with limited large<br />

lot residential. The key to this basin is capturing and treating runoff from I-485. NC<br />

DOT owns property where runoff from I-485 enters <strong>Goose</strong> <strong>Creek</strong>. During the site<br />

evaluation there appeared to be an impoundment on this property that may partially treat<br />

the runoff. Additional measures will need to be constructed to provide additional<br />

treatment to meet the goals outlined previously, particularly for NH4 and fecal coliform.<br />
