Write Protection<br />

In the left hand corner of each side of a blank disc, you will see an arrow pointing to a<br />

small shuttered hole. This is called the Write Protect hole, and facilitates protection<br />

against erasure or 'overwriting':<br />

Wh<strong>en</strong> the hole is closed, data can be 'writt<strong>en</strong>' onto the disc by the computer. Wh<strong>en</strong> the<br />

hole is op<strong>en</strong> ;however, the disc will not allow data to be writt<strong>en</strong> onto it, thus <strong>en</strong>abling<br />

you to avoid accid<strong>en</strong>tal erasure of valuable programs.<br />

Various compact floppy disc manufacturers employ differ<strong>en</strong>t mechanisms for<br />

op<strong>en</strong>ing and closing the Write Protect hole. The operation may be carried out on the<br />

AMSOFT CF2 compact floppy disc as follows:<br />

To op<strong>en</strong> the Write Protect hole, slide the small shutter located at the left hand corner<br />

ofthe disc, and the hole will be op<strong>en</strong>ed:<br />
