The Trust
Kingston hospital NHS trust provides elective and emergency hospital services for
the populations of Kingston, Richmond and Putney as well as parts of
Twickenham and South Wandsworth. It has an enviable location in leafy Surrey
and enjoys close clinical and academic links with St George’s hospital. The
hospital has a dynamic and innovative outlook with a major redesign of the site
ongoing to provide new ward blocks and postgraduate facilities; an application for
foundation status is at an advanced stage. Kingston hospital has approximately
600 beds of which 200 of these are medical. The firms’ ward base is currently
very manageable with an average of 20 beds. Kingston values its junior staff,
recently supporting a mutually beneficent redesign of the on call rota and this
has been reflected in the feedback from junior medical staff.
General Medicine:
This is a busy acute hospital with a full
range of specialties provided by the 16
medical consultants. Medical admissions
vary between 10-40 in each 24hour
period and give excellent exposure to the
full range of medical emergencies. The

recently been redeveloped and is
