Armoured swales<br />

An armoured swale is a dip in the road grade installed to convey road surface<br />

run<strong>of</strong>f, ditchwater, or cutbank seepage across a road where short-term vehicle<br />

access is required (Figure 31). It may also be used where it is critical to minimize<br />

sedimentation during short-term works such as road deactivation.
