Armoured swales
An armoured swale is a dip in the road grade installed to convey road surface
runoff, ditchwater, or cutbank seepage across a road where short-term vehicle
access is required (Figure 31). It may also be used where it is critical to minimize
sedimentation during short-term works such as road deactivation.
