Ceramics: thermal spalling resistance, tensile properties <strong>of</strong> ceramics, specific gravity <strong>of</strong> ceramics,<br />

coefficient <strong>of</strong> thermal conductivity, specific heat, porosity and bulk density, preparation <strong>of</strong> glazed tiles<br />

and their property determination, thermal conductivity measurement, polymers: molecular weight and<br />

identification using chromatography, melt flow index, viscosity using viscometer, glass transition<br />

temperature determination, molecular weight-viscometric/end group analysis method, s<strong>of</strong>tening point<br />

determination by Vicat s<strong>of</strong>tening point apparatus, water permeability, water absorption, density<br />

determination, refractive index <strong>of</strong> liquid polymer, estimation <strong>of</strong> free phenol and formaldehyde in phenol<br />

Full annealing, normalizing, hardening and tempering <strong>of</strong> plain carbon steels Jominy end quench test, pack<br />

carburizing, precipitation hardening, diffusion studies, recrystallisation and grain growth, heat treatment<br />

<strong>of</strong> high speed steel and stainless steels.<br />
