Major network development works
carried out during the year are as
follows:
n widening of the A31 over 98
kilometres between Beaune and
Langres, with the 2 x 3 lanes section
opened to traffic in November 2009,
n widening of the A36 between Belfort
and Montbéliard over 19 kilometres,
with the opening of the third lanes up to
Montbéliard centre in December 2009,
n the Mionnay half-interchange on
the A46 to the north of Lyon with
an opening to traffic in conjunction
with that on the A432,
n the Arlay interchange on the A39
connected to the Jura services area,
opened to traffic in September 2009,
n the Chaux-Seynod interchange on
the A41 Nord, where works began in
September 2009, and which is due to
open at end-2010.

A432 LA CÔTIERE VIADUCT
After two years of work, this
exceptional 1,210 metre engineering
structure carried by17 bearing
points, including 2 abutments
and 15 piers, is now beginning to
blend into the La Côtière countryside.
The pier construction works are now
almost finished, and the steel frames
to support the concrete decks are being
pushed into position by successive
phases from one pier to another.
The viaduct also stands out for the
innovative way in which it integrates
into the environment. This is the
result of a European design & build
competition conducted in association
with the State and the local
authorities concerned.
